1. Purpose of the Service
Albany Residents Directory is a private reference that describes and links to public rolls, record indexes, and historical directory collections concerning Albany, New York. It does not host government records and has no affiliation with any Albany office, court, library, or custodian.
2. Permitted Use
Use the service only for lawful purposes. You may not use it or any linked result to:
- Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm a person.
- Locate a person protected by a restraining or protective order.
- Commit identity theft, fraud, or another unlawful act.
- Make a decision regulated by the FCRA, including credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions.
- Scrape, copy, or republish the content at scale.
- Interfere with the service’s operation or security.
3. No Consumer Reports
This service is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Nothing on the service or returned by a linked search tool is a consumer report, and it may not be used to assess eligibility for a FCRA-regulated purpose.
4. External Services
Government portals, libraries, archives, and sponsored search providers maintain their own terms and policies. We do not control their content, availability, price, data practices, or result accuracy.
5. No Warranties
The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that information, office details, external links, or search results are complete, current, accurate, or available.
6. Liability Limits
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or other damages arising from use of this service or an external resource, including decisions made from a record found through them.
7. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the service operators from claims, demands, damages, and reasonable attorneys’ fees arising from your misuse of the service or violation of these terms.
8. Intellectual Property
The original text, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. You may link to pages and quote short excerpts with attribution, but may not republish complete pages or systematically copy content.
9. Term Updates
We may revise these terms by publishing an updated version here. Continued use after that publication is acceptance of the revised terms.
10. Access Restrictions
We may restrict or end access, without notice, for a user who violates these terms or abuses the service.
11. New York Law
These terms are governed by New York law without regard to conflict-of-law principles. New York Freedom of Information Law, Public Officers Law Article 6, §§84–90, governs covered executive-branch public-record access; court, vital, and election records have separate access rules.
12. Severability
If a provision of these terms is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in force.
